The Yorkshire & Humber Climate Commission is keen to work with Parish and Town Councils to hear their views on climate issues, and to enable them to work with their communities to spread knowledge and mobilise local action.

The Commission is an independent advisory body that was set up to support ambitious climate action across the Yorkshire and Humber region.

Yorkshire and Humber Climate Commission - Climate Action Plan

The Yorkshire and Humber Climate Commission are wanting parish and town councils to engage with it, to feed in comments to the Climate Action Plan, for further information contact YHClimate@leeds.ac.uk.

There are a number of ways your Council can get involved:

Join the conversation

Over the next year the Commission will be consulting on issues from the Climate Action Plan to develop next steps. The first two conversations are on home retrofit and food systems. You can join in the conversations on the Commission's Commonplace platform: https://yorkshirecap.commonplace.is/

Climate Action Pledge

The Commission encourages all Town and Parish Councils to sign the Yorkshire & Humber Climate Action Pledge, and publicise it to local businesses and organisations. The Pledge is a simple commitment to acting on climate and nature – whether you are already taking steps to be greener or right at the start of a learning journey.

You can sign up here: https://yorksandhumberclimate.org.uk/yorkshire-humber-climate-action-pledge

Engagement events

The Commission will be running engagement events with Parish Councils in partnership with the YLCA. The first meeting date is 23rd March 2023 at 6.30pm. Further details to follow.
