Speed Matters: Vote for 20mph – Anna Semlyen, National Campaign Manager

Tue, 26 Apr 2022 14:00

Time: 10.00am to 11.30am

Cost: £25.00 or £12.50 with small council bursary

20's Plenty for Us is the National campaign for a 20mph limit as the default speed where people live, work, shop, play and learn. Best practice is to replace 30mph with 20mph where vulnerable road users (eg walkers, cyclists, scooter riders, horse riders etc) mix with motor traffic as its better for safety, health and the climate. 28 million people's authorities in the UK agree. We call for cost effective changes to signs and public engagement - not engineered humps. 20's Plenty for North Yorkshire has the support of 63 parish and town council who have passed motions for a 20mph signed default, as at 27 Jan 2022. A 7 min video is available at https://www.20splenty.org/parish_council_motion to pass a local vote for 20mph asap. People are invited to join the campaign anytime. This is free and you'll get a campaign pack with stickers.

North Yorkshire facebook is https://www.facebook.com/groups/2012586572255626 Regular zooms are held monthly for supporters to agree activist tactics, for instance to contact election candidates to add 20mph to their manifesto.
