Protecting the parks that kept us going when the world stopped – Fields in Trust with Jamie Leeson, Fields in Trust

Wed, 09 Sep 2020 10:00

Cost: £5.00 Admin fee (kindly subsidised by Fields in Trust)

Local parks and green spaces were there for us when everything else changed. They were places to move, breathe, run and relax as well as being safe places to connect with loved ones. Parks will also be a powerful part of our recovery from the coronavirus pandemic but sadly they continue to be threatened with imminent loss. And once lost, a green space is lost forever. Fields in Trust's aim is to protect a park or green space within a ten-minute walk of 75% of the UK population, in perpetuity (in partnership with the landowner who retain the ownership, management and maintenance). Find out how the local council can play its part in helping to protect green spaces for good. The presentation will cover the following:

  • Is there enough green space in the local area?
  • Why protect with Fields in Trust?
  • Parks during a pandemic
  • Community involvement in parks and green spaces
  • Costs incurred with the Land Registry
  • Membership of Fields in Trust (separate to protection and optional)
