CLERK TO BRIERLEY TOWN COUNCIL

A vacancy has arisen for the above post

(initially temporary to cover for long-term sickness but may become permanent) 

The position requires a person with management and administrative experience and knowledge of Local Government and will be the Council’s ‘Proper Officer’ advising the Council and servicing its meetings and putting into effect its decisions.. Responsible for the day to day management of the Council’s business and working in liaison with the Finance Officer to provide efficient services a range of skills and abilities are required.

The Clerk will be required to commit a minimum of 15 Hours per week to Council business. Some evening/weekend work is required. The initial workload may be greater and these hours and pay are negotiable.. An immediate appointment is sought. The main office of the Council is in Grimethorpe, Barnsley.

Rosedale East and West Parish Council

Vacancy for the position of Parish Council Clerk

Following the resignation of our current Clerk the Parish Council has a vacancy in the role of Clerk to the Council.

The Parish Council meets normally 11 times a year on the second Thursday of the month except in December.

The role includes preparing agendas and taking minutes of meetings, dealing with correspondence, following up on actions agreed by the Council and acting as the Responsible Financial Officer to the Council. You will need to provide your own computer with internet connection.

The Council has a website which has to be managed but training and support can be provided.

The Contract is for 11 hours per month at a rate of £8.34 per hour. This rate follows the NALC agreed rates for level SCP15 on scale LC1. Reasonable expenses are also met by the Council.

Experience would be useful but not essential. Support for training in a recognised local council clerical qualification will be considered.

 Long Preston Parish Council                     

Long Preston Parish Council seeks a highly motivated, enthusiastic person to take on the post of part time Clerk to the Council and responsible financial officer.

Duties include: actingg as advisor to the council; minute taking; compilation of correspondence, (ability to use e-mail is necessary); filing, accounts and willingness to undertake training in all aspects of local authority administration.

Applicants need to be able to communicate effectively, either orally, in writing or electronically and to present views positively. Possess a high degree of literacy and numeracy coupled with excellent organisational skills and the ability to use MS Word / Excel. Experience of monitoring budgets and preparing financial statements and final accounts.

Previous local government experience is desirable but not necessary as training will be given.

Hours negotiable

Salary negotiable dependant on experience.

Vacancy for the position of Parish Council Clerk

Following the resignation of our current Clerk the Parish Council has a vacancy in the role of Clerk to the Council.

The Parish Council meets normally 10 times a year on the third Monday of the month except in August & December.

The role includes preparing agendas and taking minutes of meetings, dealing with correspondence, following up on actions agreed by the Council and acting as the Responsible Financial Officer to the Council. You will need to provide your own computer with internet connection.

The Clerk to the Council will be the Proper Officer of the Council and as such is under a statutory duty to carry out all the functions, and in particular to serve or issue all the notifications required by law of a local authority's Proper Officer. (More detail on this is included in the contract of employment).

The Council has a website but this is managed by the council’s webmaster.

The Contract is for 4.25 hours per week at a rate of £8.34 per hour. This rate follows the NALC agreed rates for level SCP15 on scale LC1. Reasonable expenses are also met by the Council.
